On Trend – Urban Jungle & Our Buddleia Design
In recent years there has been a real resurgence for the ecclectic jungle look – created indoors by having an abundance of house plants, such as cacti, as well as macrame hanging planters that create that wacky 70’s vibe. It seems to be all the rage, and we thought we’d tap into this trend and have a go at designing a print that would appeal to the lovers of this movement. The print still needs to work well indoors, to create a comfortable and homely interior without being too much of an eyesore. Our answer to this exciting trend is our Buddleia design – joining our Garden Collection in September 2017 and available to pre-order from our website this August. With its dark green moody hues and pops of colour from the stark white of the buddleia and rusty orange of the butterflies, this design looks like it stepped straight out of the rain forest, and we love it!
Check out our Greenery post from earlier this year that was inspired by pantones colour of the year, and is where our love affair with all things green and tropical started! As our staff christmas treat we had a macrame hanging pot lesson taught by Katie Jones Knit, where we tapped into the bohemian trend and created unique macrame hanging planters in colours of our choosing. This was before we had started planning our Buddleia design, and without a shadow of a doubt, this experience paired with visual research around the jungle theme helped shape this eclectic and fun design. Were not usually ones to follow a trend as we tend to see our designs as timeless and continually relevant, however we just had to get in on this one, as the whole concept is joyful, vibrant and yet somehow still classic and adds a new youthful twist to our existing designs.
