Saying Goodbye to Some of Our Christmas Cards

Saying Goodbye to Some of Our Christmas Cards

One of the hardest parts of being an independent designer is knowing when it’s time to say goodbye.

Every Christmas, I spend months sketching, painting and perfecting new festive designs inspired by the British countryside, much-loved pets and the wildlife that makes winter so magical. From cheeky robins and cosy woodland animals to playful dogs dressed in Christmas hats, every card starts life as a hand-drawn illustration in my studio.

But as much as I’d love to keep every design forever, there simply isn’t enough room, and I realised last winter, when I did my Christmas shows, I simply didn’t have enough space to show all my designs.

Making Space for New Christmas Designs

Each year, I create new Christmas collections, and unfortunately, that means some older favourites have to retire.

It’s never an easy decision. Some of these cards have been with me for years and have been sent all over the UK (and beyond!) to spread a little festive joy. They’ve become customer favourites, appeared in independent shops, and been part of countless family Christmases.

However, keeping every design in print isn’t practical. Storage space is limited, and every retired design makes room for fresh ideas, new illustrations and exciting collections for the coming festive season.

Last Chance to Buy

If you’ve spotted one of your favourite Christmas cards in the sale or marked as “last chance”, this really is your opportunity to stock up.

Once these designs have sold out, they won’t be coming back.

Many customers buy several copies of their favourite design to keep for future years, especially if it’s become their signature Christmas card for family and friends.

Why Independent Designers Have to Make These Decisions

Unlike large card companies, independent designers don’t have endless warehouse space or huge print runs.

Every design represents an investment in illustration, printing and storage. As my collection of greeting cards, wallpapers, fabrics and homeware continues to grow, I have to make thoughtful decisions about which products stay and which make way for something new. I also don’t have huge turnover of designs, some of my favourites have been with me for years, they are timeless and the best sellers keep selling year on year.

While it’s a little sad saying goodbye, it’s also incredibly exciting because it means I can spend time creating new Christmas characters, new wrapping paper and new festive collections that I can’t wait to share with you.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has chosen one of my Christmas cards over the years. Whether you’ve bought a robin, a fox, a badger, a penguin or one of my many festive dogs, every order has supported my small independent business and allowed me to keep designing from my Oxfordshire studio.

If one of your favourites is being discontinued, now’s the time to grab it before it’s gone forever.

And don’t worry—while some old friends are retiring, there are plenty of new festive faces waiting in the wings.

Watch this space… Christmas is already underway in the studio!
