International vegetarian day

International vegetarian day

I’m not a vegetarian but I do believe, unlike my husband that you can have a delicious meal without meat. Today, the 1st of October is international vegetarian day, a day set up by the American Vegetarian Society in 1977 to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism. So I’m sharing some of our favourite veggie treats I’ve tried out recently.

Jamie Oliver’s Breakfast Popovers

I’d been excited about trying this one out since seeing Jamie make it on his recent TV series. The hot chilli sauce was too much for me but they still tasted fantastic without the spicy kick

Turmeric Tofu & Wild Rice

Tofu can be very daunting, it doesn’t quite make sense or fit into the any of food boxes we are familiar with. Most the time when people say they don’t like tofu is because they’ve tried to cook it like meat. It’s actually great for soaking up flavours of a dish, and is delicious with aromatic spices.
