We Are The Women at Clerkenwell Design Week

See Lorna’s launch of Structural by Lorna Syson at Clerkenwell Design Week 24th to 26th of May. Lorna will be showing alongside an all female collective called We Are the Women, a collective curated by Laura Lea and Sarah Evans founders of the company En Masse.
All of the women demonstrating at Clerkenwell Design Week are up-and-coming designers expected to do great things in the future for British design. Being part of a collective means they can communicate ideas in a positive environment and encourage each other to share their successes.
Lorna has always had helpful advisers throughout her business, including mentors at Cockpit Arts where she is currently based. Having experienced positive people around her has boosted her business to what it is today. She hopes to use her expertise and knowledge of the design industry to other women in the collective who may have never been to a show before.
“I believe that we are stronger together,” says Lorna. “When Laura approached me about creating a female design collective where we support each other’s creative and business aspirations, I thought it was a fantastic idea.”
Structural by Lorna Syson is a company, which has been working on high end commissions for both commercial and private spaces. Past work includes a 30m long three dimensional veil for the West London Buddhist center. A bespoke woolen felt wall using a range of three dimensional stitch and manipulating techniques for a private home in Chelsea and most recently a three story textile light for a private home on the Bay of San Francisco.
“Most of my commissions over the past 6 years have been through word of mouth,” says Lorna. “This is my first opportunity to show my structural work on it’s own under it’s new name and new branding. I am really proud of my portfolio so far and hope that this will open doors to start new conversations for more exciting bespoke projects.”
