Sustainability is especially important at Christmas as around 1 billion Christmas cards are put in the bin and 300,000 tonnes of card packaging is said to be used during the festive season. Lorna does not want to be contributing to packaging and cards ending up in landfill so has clear eco friendly practices in place to ensure that her Christmas cards and wrap are as sustainable as possible.

Firstly, all Lorna Syson Christmas cards are FSC certified, which means that you can be assured all materials used have been sourced from a forest approved by the Forest Stewardship Council, a non-profit international organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forestry around the world.

Christmas Wrapping Paper - Animal Wrap that's Eco Friendly
The uncoated part is very important and means the paper can is recyclable. Lorna only produces recyclable wrapping paper. In the UK, we use 227,000 miles of wrapping paper every single year, which averages out to about four rolls of wrapping per household. Some papers are coated in fine plastic, foiled or glittered but when it comes to being eco-friendly it’s a huge no no! Coating wrapping paper takes a paper product to something which ends up in landfill, so avoid papers that are too shiny.
The easiest way to tell if your paper can be recycled is to do the scrunch test! Scrunch up the paper and if it stays scrunched then it can be recycled. Avoid wrapping paper that is very thin (such a cheap wrapping paper that tears easily and feels thin) as this contains very few good quality fibres and therefore cannot be recycled. The thicker the paper, the better.
Lorna’s Christmas wrapping paper feels lovely and thick so you know it is high quality and won’t end up in landfill. Also please note before it goes into recycling, please remove any plastic sticky tape or better yet use a biodegradable or plant based tape.
