Quirky Christmas Cards for Bird, Cat and Animal Lovers
Looking for Christmas cards with a little personality? My collection brings together illustrated birds, festive cats and animals wearing antlers, with playful details designed to make someone smile.
I’m Lorna Syson, a British designer based in Oxfordshire. I create my Christmas card illustrations with the same love of wildlife and colour that runs through my wallpaper, fabric and homeware collections—along with a little more festive humour.
Whether you’re choosing a card for a cat-loving friend or someone who enjoys watching the birds in their garden, here’s a closer look at the collection.
Christmas Cards Inspired by British Birds
Birds are a favourite subject in my illustrations. I love their individual shapes, markings and personalities, and Christmas gives me the opportunity to have a little fun with them.
My Christmas bird designs combine illustrated birds with festive details, including snowy backgrounds and seasonal colours. They’re a lovely choice for birdwatchers, gardeners and anyone who enjoys a connection with nature.
Choose a bird that reminds you of the recipient’s garden, or one you know they particularly love. That small connection can make a Christmas card feel much more personal.
Some of the birds also appear on my Christmas Bird wrapping paper, so you can carry the theme through to your presents.

Cat Christmas Cards: Meet the Feline Festive Collection
For friends and family who adore their cats, my Feline Festive collection brings together playful illustrations and Christmas wordplay.
The four designs are:
- Puurfect Little Angel
- Meowy Christmas
- Feline Festive
- Fabulous Feline & Festive
These cards are full of the humour I enjoy bringing to my stationery. They’re a way to choose something that reflects the recipient’s personality—and perhaps their cat’s, too.
You’ll find the festive feline designs in my Christmas card collection.

Animals Wearing Antlers and Other Festive Characters
Sometimes the idea behind a card is simply something that makes me smile. My animals wearing antlers are a good example: familiar animal characters given a playful Christmas twist.
These designs are for people who enjoy a little humour in their festive post. Choosing a favourite animal is also an easy way to show that you’ve thought about the person receiving it.
You can mix different designs in your order, choosing a bird for one friend, a cat for another and an antler-wearing animal for someone who will appreciate the joke.
Original Illustrations by an Independent British Designer
Every illustration in my Christmas card collection is my own design.
The birds, animals and festive details reflect my interests and sense of humour. Although the characters vary, they share an illustration style that connects them to the wider Lorna Syson collection.
When you buy directly from my small business, you support the work behind those designs, from developing the illustrations to preparing them for print.
I love knowing that something I’ve drawn will become part of someone’s Christmas: arriving through the letterbox, sitting on a mantelpiece or making a friend laugh.
Textured Card with a Matt Finish
The feel of a greeting card matters to me as much as the illustration.
My Christmas cards are printed on FSC-certified card stock with a textured, matt finish. I choose a substantial card that feels lovely to hold and complements the printed artwork.

Pair Your Christmas Cards with Coordinating Wrapping Paper
Choosing coordinating cards and wrapping paper is a simple way to make a present feel thoughtfully put together.
My Christmas Bird wrapping paper features birds from the festive collection, bringing the illustrations beyond the card and onto the gift itself.
You could pair a bird card with the coordinating wrap or choose different designs linked by colour. Finish with ribbon and a handwritten gift tag for a personal touch.
How to Choose a Christmas Card They’ll Love
Start with the person you’re sending it to.
For a birdwatcher or keen gardener, look for a bird illustration that connects with their interests. For a cat lover, choose a feline design with a message that suits their sense of humour. For someone who enjoys playful illustrations, explore the animals wearing antlers.
Then add a personal message. A shared memory, a thank-you or a few words about catching up can make even a short Christmas greeting feel special.
