I’ve always loved greeting cards.
There’s something rather lovely about choosing a little piece of paper that says I was thinking of you — whether it’s for a birthday, a congratulations, a new home or simply because you wanted to make someone smile.
But I wanted to make my cards feel a little more personal.
So, I’ve been working on something new: bespoke number greeting cards, made to order.
Instead of choosing a card that simply says “Happy Birthday”, you can now choose the number you want on the front.
Whether it’s 1, 5, 18, 30, 40, 50, 70… or any other special number, your card is made especially for you.
Made to order, rather than made in bulk
One of the things I love about running a small independent design business is that I can do things a little differently.
These cards aren’t sitting in a huge warehouse waiting to be picked and packed. The number is created specifically for your order, making your card feel that little bit more special.
It’s perfect for those milestone birthdays, but it doesn’t have to be a big one.

And because the card is made to order, you can choose the number that actually means something to you.
Starting with Bluebell
One of the first designs to get the bespoke number treatment is my Bluebell card.
Bluebells have always been a favourite of mine, and this particular design has a rather special story behind it.
The original illustration was inspired by photographs I took on my honeymoon at the Dandelion Hideaway in Leicestershire. I stayed in the Bluebells pod, with a whole field of bluebells behind the tent.
It seemed like the perfect design for celebrating a birthday surrounded by beautiful British wildflowers.
So imagine it with a big 40 on the front.
Or 30.
Or 18.
Or perhaps 28, because it’s about who you’re buying it for, and not waiting for those big numbers!
The design stays the same — the number simply makes it yours.
A card for the birthday they are actually celebrating
I think there is something much nicer about seeing the number on the front of a birthday card.
It immediately tells the recipient:
This was chosen for me.
And afterwards, rather than putting another generic birthday card into the recycling, it becomes a little reminder of that particular year.
I’ve designed the cards to still have that distinctive Lorna Syson feel — nature-inspired, colourful and a little bit different — but with the option to add that personal detail.
The Bluebell card is printed here in the UK on high-quality paper from an FSC-certified supplier, and I send my cards plastic-free where possible.
Why I love personalised stationery
I’ve always believed that stationery should be useful, but it should also bring a little bit of joy.
A handwritten card feels different from a text message. It takes a little more time. You have to choose it, write it, put it in an envelope and actually send it.
And that’s exactly why I like making them.
These new bespoke number cards take that one step further.
