Designer Wallpaper & Fabric Supplier UK | Trade Fabrics for Interior Designers

Are you an interior designer looking for British wallpaper and fabric suppliers for residential or commercial projects?

Lorna Syson is an award-winning British designer supplying distinctive, nature-inspired wallpaper and fabrics to interior designers, upholsterers and trade customers across the UK.

From statement bird wallpapers and botanical prints to coordinating British-printed fabrics, the Lorna Syson collection is designed for interiors that need something more individual than a mass-produced pattern.

Based in South Oxfordshire near Wallingford, Lorna has been creating original surface pattern designs since establishing her studio in 2009.

Wallpaper and fabric for interior designers

Finding the right fabric or wallpaper can completely change an interior scheme.

For interior designers, however, it’s not simply about finding a pattern that looks beautiful.

You need to consider colour, scale, pattern repeat, fabric suitability, wallpaper quantities, lead times and how a design will work alongside the other materials within your scheme.

Working with an independent British designer gives you the opportunity to find something distinctive while having direct access to someone who understands the product.

At Lorna Syson, I work with interior designers and trade customers looking for original wallpaper and fabric for their projects.

You can apply for a trade account here; once accepted, you can order samples for free for yourself or your clients. We also provide sample books for fabrics and wallpapers and larger returnable samples of fabrics

British-designed wallpaper inspired by nature

Nature is at the heart of the Lorna Syson collection.

My designs are inspired by the flowers, birds, foliage and landscapes I’ve encountered throughout my life — from growing up in Warwickshire and childhood holidays in Cornwall to countryside walks and the nature surrounding my studio in South Oxfordshire today.

This has resulted in a collection of British bird wallpaper, botanical wallpaper and floral wallpaper with stories behind the patterns.

Rather than following short-lived interior trends, I want the designs to bring a lasting connection with nature into people’s homes.

Coordinating wallpaper and fabric

One of the advantages of sourcing wallpaper and fabric from the same designer is the ability to create a coordinated scheme without everything needing to match.

Many Lorna Syson patterns are available across both wallpaper and fabric, with selected designs also appearing on cushions, lampshades and other interior products.

That doesn’t mean you need to use the same pattern everywhere.

In fact, I usually recommend the opposite.

Let the wallpaper become the hero and pick out colours from it elsewhere in the room.

Alternatively, keep the walls relatively simple and use a patterned Lorna Syson fabric for a statement chair, blind or curtain.

Fabric for curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery

Patterned fabric can be introduced into an interior in numerous ways.

Depending on the fabric and requirements of your individual project, consider using designer fabric for:

  • Curtains and Roman blinds
  • Cushions
  • Lampshades
  • Headboards
  • Footstools
  • Occasional chairs
  • Window seats
  • Decorative upholstery

For an interior designer, this gives you considerable flexibility.

You can introduce just a small amount of pattern or allow it to become the focal point of the entire room.

Wallpaper for residential interior projects

Lorna Syson wallpaper can work across a wide variety of residential spaces.

Bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and home offices are obvious choices, but don’t overlook smaller spaces.

A cloakroom, entrance hall or small guest bedroom can be the perfect place to use a more adventurous wallpaper.

These are often rooms where clients are willing to experiment with colour and pattern.

Recommending matching paint for my wallpapers and fabrics

I’ve created some blog posts sharing inspiration behind designs, and these also share paint colours I would recommend to match with them. Please reach out if there is something specific, I am happy to share.

Order wallpaper and fabric samples for your project

For interior designers, samples are an essential part of specifying wallpaper and fabric. Once you have a trade account, I provide wallpaper and sample fabrics for free

Colours displayed on a computer or phone screen can never completely replicate a physical material.

Ordering samples allows you and your client to assess the true colours, print detail, pattern scale and material alongside the other elements within your scheme.

Place wallpaper samples against flooring, paint colours, joinery, upholstery and curtains.

Then look at them throughout the day.

A wallpaper that looks one way in bright natural light may feel very different under artificial lighting in the evening.

Fabric samples can also help you assess texture, weight and how colours coordinate with other materials.

Supporting interior designers and trade customers

Working with an independent design studio can offer a more personal experience than sourcing from a large supplier.

If you’re specifying Lorna Syson wallpaper or fabric for an interior project, you can contact the studio directly to discuss your requirements.

This can be particularly useful if you need information about samples, quantities, pattern repeats, product suitability or availability.

For larger or ongoing projects, please get in touch to discuss your trade requirements.

Why specify an independent British designer?

For clients increasingly interested in knowing where products come from, independent British design can add another dimension to an interior scheme.

Choosing Lorna Syson means you’re specifying original designs created by an independent British designer, rather than selecting a generic mass-market pattern.

It also means there’s a story you can share with your client.

A Meadow pattern inspired by a Devon walk. Ivy noticed on the way to the studio. Bluebells connected to a honeymoon. British birds appearing amongst the foliage.

These details give an interior personality.
